Possibly silly question - hair and showers

Hi

We've moved house and the new shower has a plug with a flat profile (ie whole thing is flush to the floor). I have a lot of hair and shed when I wash it. On my old shower I had a little mesh hair catcher but it doesn't work here because no indent for it to slot into. Does anyone have one that fits this kind of plug?! Thanks

No answer but am watching with interest as I have been wondering the very same thing this morning! Have just finished shower room with low-profile tray and yes, the waste is covered and pretty much flush with the floor - so, as you say OP, what do you do about hair? How do you get to clear the waste pipe if when it gets clogged up? Confused

I recently bought one of these, as I too shed hair like an olde English sheepdog in summertime, and it works really well.

My shower tray isn't flat but some of the reviews suggest that it would work with a flat profile.

Is it this type of waste?

I bought a flexible silicone one from eBay for the princely sum of 99p.

It's white/cream with a couple of suckers. Not as attractive as the OXO one but it does the job Smile

Oooh thanks. Will try those. I don't know if the waste pipe looks like that under the tray - can't see in. Or am I being thick?!

Is there a silver disc covering the top?
Most of them have a trap built in that you can remove to clear out the hair. You might not need to add anything.

Thanks from me too Burnished, that looks remarkably as though it could be what I have. Will check it with the plumber when I see him next week and also get him to show me how to clear it. I've tried turning it to see if it would unscrew but either it doesn't or it's very stiff.

We have a waste like that - you pull the silver disc upwards firmly and it will come out with the soap/hair/yukky stuff, then there is a kind of cup inside the trap that also comes out. I use one of the chidren's old toothbrushes with a small head to clean them.
