Planning this as like the shape of existing bath and also as it's a bit of an odd size.
Anyone done it and can give advice on pros and cons?
Bathroom shop says to do it properly you have to remove it so it can be taken away to be dipped.
Anyone got experience on this?
Tks!

We had our rusty old cast iron bath resurfaced (not re-enamelled) about 10 years ago.

It was done in situ (weighs a ton!) and the result was very good.

We have to be quite careful with it, we couldn't wash pets in it for example.

Cost £260 at that time and £40 to repair a small chip when ex dropped something in it.

Yes. It wasn't taken away and the result was great. Can't remember what it cost, as it was about 15 years ago.

Phew. Didn't want to replace it so that is good news!
We do dump the dog in it though......

Yes, In my old flat, they didn't take it away, wouldn't have been possible. As with Munchmallow I think it was probably just a re-surface but it looked fab and continued to for several years. I then rented the flat out for a couple of years and when we then went to sell it, the enamel had worn away slightly in one area. That may have been more to do with it not having been taken care of possibly in the time it had been rented out because up until that point it had been fine.

I don't remember it being £££, maybe around £250. It was a lovely old bath though and I really didn't want to get rid of it. if I hadn't been so keen on it it probably would have made more sense to get a new one.

Thanks all. I suspect that it would be cheaper to buy a new one but really like the current one.
And the chaos if it had to be removed would have been the last straw I fear.
How did you choose your enamellers? No such word but .....

Anyone done it recently?

I had it done a couple of years ago using www.baxterbathresurfacing.co.uk, who I'd recommend if you're in the Midlands. It was a little bit noisy and smelly , but there was absolutely no mess and I was really impressed with the finish.

In the south east but will call them and see. Thanks for that.
Was it expensive? (Silly question probably.)
