window quote

I recently plan to install double glaze window throughout the house (21 window plus 1 french door and two side doors).

I have contacted safestyle, crystal, anglin and everest and got four quotes range from £12,000 (vs £18,000), £9,700 (£15,000), 15,000 (vs £20,000),to £25,000 include VAT for same requirements: uPVC grade A double glaze with Georgian grid, internal beaded, with dummy, Fensa certificate.

All of them initially gave me a high quote at the beginning and then lower the price upon negotiation. You can tell the margin is so high if comparing their original quote. Really confused. Any thoughts?

I would get a recommendation for a local firm, rather than the big names you have tried so far. You won't have to endure a sales pitch either.

Yes, Fab is right. Get a local supplier, recommended by someone if you can.

In my (not very big, admittedly) experience their quote will be somewhere under the lowest one from a major chain. And they won't phone their manager to get you a "you have to buy it now, we're not making any profit" hard sell.

Totally second getting a local company
