Hooray for you. Think we should be there in a couple of weeks after a really hard slog. Now the frantic packing can commence!

We posted our contract of sale yesterday so I'm wondering how long it's going to be for us now.

Ooh, lovely company!!!

How long has it taken each of you to get to this point? For us it will be three months to the day next week. I've been wondering how we're going to get this whole life packed up. The moving company told me we'll need more boxes than is usual. Blush

My OH is going to take some time off but I'm only taking moving day - I think it' crazy but I don't have the AL to spare!

When are you all hoping to move?

Only a few weeks here. How do you hold your nerve!? I'm finding it nerve jangling - I'm such a lightweight!

We're aiming to move 1st August. It's all gone super fast. Sold our house the day it went on the market 4 weeks ago, FTB so no chain that end. Made offer and had it accepted 3 weeks ago. The sellers are buying a new build and living with family until their house is ready so no chain that end. Mortgage approved last week. Have movers/packers coming to give estimates tomorrow.

For something that can be so stressful this has all been far too easy and straightforward so far. I'm kind of convinced it's all going to fall apart any minute! It does help that our broker is a good friend and neighbour and my husband is a solicitor and doing the conveyancing himself.

We're moving less than a mile from our current home. I love our village, just need more space before DC2 arrives in November.

Good luck everyone!

Ours had been on the market on and off for 5 years with 9 failed sales in that time. So we've had practice holding our nerves! With this buyer, 4 and a half months to get to this point. Vacant possession for us as we moved out ages ago and buy to let for them no reason why we shouldn't complete really soon. Good luck everyone!

Sort of. We sold in ne despite spending 50k on the house and am now off the ladder but the area was getting worse and it was causing us a lot of stress so hopefully its for the best.

We had our offer accepted yesterday and had an offer on our house (which we've accepted) the day before Grin

Really hoping everything goes through quickly as ideally we'd like to complete around the 22nd August. Not sure that's realistic though!

I'll join too - we're hoping to exchange next week & complete on 1st August. Our buyers are being a pain though & keep trying to force the completion date forward as they're keen to get in.

I'm just getting more frustrated with the other parties' solicitors who don't seem to respond to messages or requests from my solicitor!!

Right, seen as I'm hopeful all will go to plan I've decided to start the mammoth task of clearing/sorting/binning/recycling/packing. Today was kitchen. Six bin bags left my house to go to tip/charity/food bank. Meal plan made to use up rest of stuff in cupboards and freezer by moving date. Inside of cupboards cleaned down and everything put away in an orderly fashion to be boxed up a couple of days before we go.

Next up the big one, the loft. It's doesn't help that I've not been up there since watching Luther last year so have no idea the nick it might be in after DH helpfully hid all the stuff we didn't want in our marketing photos up there!

Ooh, congratulations everyone and hang in there those about to complete!

MrsNec, you have been through a great deal of hassle to say the least. Fingers crossed for you this one is it!

Our process has been fairly straight forward. We sold ours immediately and found where we want to move a week later and the chain either side were ready to go. However, one worry is that we have annoyed the estate agent who has the power of holding the keys for us to pick up on moving day. They went through a phase for two or three weeks of ringing us near daily to try to hurry us along. We quit taking their calls after a while as there was nothing we could do. We've had a letter today letting us know what we already know - that the exchange has taken place and that if they are the key holders then we'll need to be sure everything's in place. Do you think they could act out a little or am I just finding something else to worry about?

Rum. I'm impressed and jealous, it'll be the weekend before I get much done. I'm mostly just phoning services/companies that need to know of the change of address.

I'm sure it'll be fine R2, if you've really annoyed them, they'll want to see the back of you the sooner the better rather than have you hanging around their offices all day!

DH came home with a giant roll of bubble wrap. must not pop, must not pop.

Trying to do it all bit by bit and stretch it out over the next three weeks. I'm Five months pregnant and one of those rubbish pregnant women who feels like shit and pukes a lot so trying to take it easy but also be a picture of efficiency!

We're waiting to exchange and I feel SICK! Everyone has signed contracts except the person at the very start of the chain who is supposed to be doing so on Tuesday when we can exchange. I'm not sleeping with the fear it might still fall through and cost us ££££s.
Keep fingers and toes crossed for us.

We now live around boxes in what feels like an absolute tip!

Fingers crossed on your searches Lelivre!

We have been in full on pack mode all weekend and I'm relieved by how much we've accomplished. I have a few odds and ends though that I don't know what to do with. One is a collection of long stick objects I can't work out how to pack so have left in a pile together that consists of umbrellas, a random wardrobe hanger bar thing that we don't recall purchasing but looks useful, walking sticks, wrapping paper. I have another collection of big heavy breakables of mirrors, pictures in glass and frames. Any tips on how I prepare these for the movers?

Grrrr our vendors solicitor is still messing about so delaying things! I was hoping we'd exchange today/tomorrow but it doesn't look likely. My solicitor has just had an email reply from them to say she has been out of the office for the last week & is just getting round to dealing with emails today and not to expect a reply for up to 48 hours!!Angry She is waiting on some really simple things from them to enable everyone to exchange. Plus for them to confirm the actual completion date is ok with them.

This whole process is sooooo frustrating I'm trying to stay calm but struggling!
