Chair in the hallway...

Do you have one? If so what is it like?
Dh and I have decided we need one, he'd like one with arms.

I'm thinking either something like this or this. I'm slightly worried the first might look too large and the second like we've moved a dining room chair into the hall.
It's a cottage like house.

To my mind an upholstered bench always looks more 'natural' in a hall than a chair - they have one at the place you linked to but it has no arms (which I prefer, TBH).

But yeah, some sort of park-yer-bum-ability is great in a hall - unfortunately we've no room for such here.

I will have soon, we have a huge hallway and it looks a little empty. I have bought this off Ebay and am going to have it recovered, when I find what I want.

Is it quite low?

Yes it is, it is mainly to fill a void and for DD you use to put her shoes on. I am trying to find a very vivid fabric for it.

It's a nursing chair isn't it, HaveToWearHeels? Very nice.

MrsLettuce yes I think it is, just couldn't get what I wanted so thought I would do it this way, although it is working out quite expensive.

Hello again!

We've decided on a bench :)

Which do you prefer, I can't decide...

  1. www.alisonathome.com/antoinette-buttoned-long-bench#
  2. www.swooneditions.com/french-style-bench-celine-oatmeal-linen

    Thank you!

I like the larger Antoinette one as you can get two bums on it at once. be a squeeze on the other one.

The second one - the first looks a bit mean in comparison.

To be honest I liked your first chair best. It looks like you can't completely relax on a bench.

Report
Karbea · 04/06/2014 16:16

Do you think you'd actually really need to relax in the hallway though?
It's only really for putting on shoes isn't it.

Are you rural? My DS's would sit on it to put wellies on & cover it with mud.

We have a chair in the hallway.

The idea was it was somewhere to sit to put your shoes on but the reality is it's where the children tend to dump coats and school bags when they get in Hmm

Would your bench be used like that?

As an alternative, have you considered an Ottoman? We keep all our spare shoes in ours and it was invaluable when I was at the beached-whale point of pregnancy and had to sit to get me boots on...

We have a bench- space for more than one to put on their shoes!

I like the second chair you posted. This is ours. Although it is currently in the lounge as we are having a bit of a move around

I'd love a church pew, if I had space

OP have you bought from that swoon website before? I've never seen it before but seen a number of things that I love. It seems quite substantially cheaper than similar things elsewhere though?

Report
Karbea · 04/06/2014 20:56

No I haven't, but I think I will at some stage as I love the things.

Wel if it is only for shoes why not get a shoe cabinet?

You have completely thrown me with what you wanted by posting two pictures of chairs in your OP and had the word chair in your title.

There was no mention of shoes being stored.

Report
ChippyMinton · 04/06/2014 23:01

I think the OP wants to sit on it and put on her shoes, not put the shoes on the chair.

Report
Karbea · 04/06/2014 23:14

Yes I won't be storing shoes, just sitting on it.
