new kitchen/diner extension will have dining area approx 2.7m x 3.5m.

thinking extendable round table would suit square-ish room best but haven't seen many available.

needs to seat 4 everyday, 6 a few times a month, and 8 occasionally.

getting all confused and need some wise mn wisdom Smile
thank you

G-plan made a great, simple extending dining table: there are always a few on eBay, eg: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Retro-1960-70-s-G-Plan-Teak-Extending-Dining-Table-Chairs-Great-Condition-/251480194267?_trksid=p2054897.l5662

Good size for 4, closed, or six, open. Would cope with 8 at a squeeze.

This room is possibly not wide enough for a round table as they tend to have greater diameter than the width of a rectangular table. I would look at an extending rectangle or square if you want other furniture in the room. You need to allow space for the chairs to be pushed back and a comfortable space to exit the table.

thanks for all your help.
am now toying with the idea of making some banquette seating on one of the short walls, for the dcs, with extendable table and comfy chairs for us. found an interesting link using Ikea wall units for the base with thick cushion pad. might work quite well to keep more of an open space between garden and lounge
