this is the first one - rural area. 10m from nearest big town (Hexham) down rural unlit road. 6m from shops / doctor / school etc:

This is the 2nd one:
6m from Alnwick

what do you think?

Just going by the photos, I'd choose the second

2 for the kitchen.

I'd definitely go for number 1, the second isn't very pretty is it?

Second

Number 1. The bathroom in number 2 would be an utter pig to clean.

House 2 - it's nearer the sea.

2nd - neighbours on just one side rather than 2

Second house but the bathroom would be the first thing to go. Those spa/jet baths spill out and hold so much bodily gunk, I couldn't bring me self to use it after moving in! Other peoples gunk freaks me out :(

Lovely choice to gave though, they both look lovely houses but second for me.

The first is prettier but i would pick the second.

Hmmm number one looks nicer on street view though.

Number 2 looks like it needs more work but I would still opt for it as it is 6 miles from Alnwick.

Second one

Not a lot in it. I would decide based on things like access to public transport.

Number 2, only one set of neighbours, and I'm not sure why but I like the funny bed in the hole in the loft, I'd love to make that into a library and curl up in there to read books!

1st one!

I've actually viewed the 1st one. Its nicer than in the pics. the kitchen is bigger than it looks and there is a dining room with a log burner. It is immaculate too. BUT: middle of forest with NO public transport. Nearest facility is forest toilet and stargazing thingy they are building. Fantastic! but maybe not as practical as number two? Nearest school about 8m (transport provided) away and not brilliant according to Ofsted?

bubblesausage - that's a great idea! I have a feeling it would be commandeered for a Hornby train set though Sad Nearest good school that my dc would cope with (asd) is 10m away which I would have to drive myself.

sorry, hope this not drip feeding. don't mean to.
haven't seen the 2nd one 'in the flesh' yet.

Second one. Would hate to be six miles from a pint of milk in the depths of winter...

First one much prettier. Second one has better potential epc so may be cheaper bills. I'm really envious at the prices as I'm trying to buy in London at the moment!

  1. Love the loft, and the garden is much bigger so potential to extend/build cabin in the garden.

Hairy - it is MORE expensive than the area I live in atm.

My house is Victorian stone built detached.
4 beds, 3 receptions - 2 with marble fireplaces.
Basement suite of 2 rooms 18 x 20foot plus 2 large storage areas. basement with own separate entrance so business premises or separate flat. No real garden and located on a busy(ish) road.
You will NEVER guess the price.....................

Number 1 for me

Number two.
Number one sounds like it would be well creepy at night. Imagine on a power cut!

No 2 near sea and I like the fire. Also back garden looks bigger.

Number 1 has more curb appeal but number 2 looks like it has a better layout and space, plus a bigger garden. You can always do some work to the exterior.

I would go with the semi (although get rid of the bathroom). The loft space looks like a good place for kids to use. It seems bigger overall, and only one adjoining neighbour. The other one has a nicer garden (if you are into gardening)
