Bed cushions, how many, what size, shape?

I know this is probably personal taste, but I'm rubbish at stuff like this so would really appreciate some help.

I've selected a blinds for my bedroom an ensuite that comes in three coordinating fabrics.
I've a stripe in the ensuite, and a sort of line swirl flowery design in the bedroom. The third fabric is a sort of leaf design.

I'd like some cushions on the bed to tie the two rooms together, but I'd also like to get one of two others in similar shades but not the same fabric, so it doesn't look too matchy matchy.

Can anyone help me with a good rule of thumb as to how many I should have and sizes. I've found a company that will make cushions out of the same fabrics in the following sizes... 16, 18, 20, 22inch squares.

Would really appreciate some help, thank you!

er...none unless you actually use the bed in the daytime. Otherwise all that happens is that they get chucked on the floor at bedtime and you have to pick them up again in the morning!

sounds a nice colour scheme though!

Sorry - silly phone

Single beds 2 cushions, one 20" square and one 18" square in front of it
Double & king beds 4 cushions, same as above
6' super king 6 cushions.
These are quite big sizes though but I like that.
You could do 18" with 15" in front if you prefer smaller scale.
NB when deciding it might be helpful to look how tall your headboard is, if it's tall bigger cushions look better, if it's lower smaller ones.
Make sense? Bit rubbish explaining!

Which fabrics do you think would be best with the 4 cushions then?

2 of the stripes (bigger ones?), then buy two others in unrelated fabric?

Why would you have cushions on your bed? Surely they spend every night on the floor which is a bit icky.
Cant you get a nice throw instead?

Hello,

Did anyone have any thoughts on which fabric would look better on the bigger one?

Thank you.

I don't know if its helpful but I have similar patterned curtains and not to be too matchy I have plain white bedlinen, a throw in a muted grey and two small grey cushions. The grey is to match the walls not curtains.

I would have a stripe(or plain) at the back and the leaf at the front.

So not the swirly one like the curtains at all?

I was just about to hit go on the order website...

I had also figured the stripe at the back :)

I wouldn't use matching fabric at all, personally. Just a co ordinating colour would be matchy enough.
