Interior Fittings for Ikea Pax (and ikea must haves!)

Well they are finally up! I posted a thread a couple of months ago and got some great assembly tips. DP and my Dad did it over a couple of weekends and I was very impressed (mumsnet tips printed out and left on the bed for them to read!)

Anyhooo, am off to ikea tomorrow to get the interior bits for the wardrobe and was wondering if there are any must haves, or things to avoid for the inside?

Also, while it am making the 250 mile round trip is there anything I shouldn't come home without?!!

Have gone for the plastic pull out boxes instead of wooden drawers? Been here three hours already but it is the quietest i have ever seen an Ikea!

we have both the plastic box drawers and the wooden drawers. Advantage of wooden ones is that you can get all sorts of very useful inserts. I have a set of 4 across a drawer: knickers, bras, socks, tights, with long thin ones across the back for infrequently-used or easily-lost odds and ends.

See if they have lighting that operates on a pressure switch. We have the sensor lights that switch on when you open the door. One at 'ceiling' level, one under the shelf that covers the top drawer. Brilliant, but very frustrating as the lower one switches off when I open the top drawer, and flashes on and off when I step towards/away from the open wardrobe. Wd prefer one that operates on a pressure switch activated by the door releasing/pressing it.

You have probably been and done now but I have an unbelievable amount of plastic tubs in every Pax, I'm the one with the ridiculous amount of Pax (keep name changing)

I use the pack of 6 fabric boxes to divide them if needed, ie in one single I have 2 rectangles one for boxers and one for vests and 2 small squares for the children's socks divided into home and black school ones.

In a double you can get more than 6. Experiment in store, I believe I have 2 large squares, 2 small squares and rectangle ones for my underwear drawer.

I have their hanging rails and shelves with the fabric tubs on -they have 2 large ones that fit into a double, but apart from that nothing else. I don't have trouser hangers or shoe things, oh I do have a pull out belt thing but I hook the sweeping brush and feather dusters on that. Told you I have them everywhere!

I am really going to miss my extra tall pax wardrobes when we move. Tet fit so much in. We have them in each bedroom and they all have drawers, baskets, shelves in. Instead we've got these naff wardrobes that look like they originate in the 70's, but DH says we have to prioritise on other things and make do with naff wardrobes, because they are at least there, even if they are not to my tastes. We have to use our money wisely. Yawn, yawn.

Why are you leaving them behind, Lucy?
