does anyone know what the piece of metal is on the roof of a woodburner/multifuel stove?

Its like a flap of metal on the inside of the stove roof. Its obviously there for a reason but ours has a big chunk on it where its got too hot and melted away and so it needs replacing

Its a clearview stove if that make any difference but I'm sure they're all very similar.

Ours is lined with fire bricks but is a different manufacturer. Have you just tried googling the manufacturers name and liner? Or do you have a local shop you could ring and ask?

hmm, I'll try stove liner and see if anything comes up. Ours is lined with firebricks but this is a piece of metal on the inside, like a flap (although I'm sure it isn't called a fire flap - will google just in case though).

our baffle plate has corroded, My chimney sweep said it wont do any harm to still use the fire, it usually covers a back boiler.
if you have a pipe coming out if it at the back that leads nowhere you can put wire wool in the pipe to block it up and stop smoke escaping.
