Mouldy grouting in bathroom - this REALLY works!!

I'm not sponsored by the company, honest, and I have a history on here (Yoni massage, centre parks, poo troll etc) but I've just used this mould spray in my bathroom and OMG does it work!
I've had major black mould problems in my bathroom grout and was dubious that anything would shift it but bought this stuff on the recommendation of other MN-ers and sprayed it on earlier today.....and have been amazed by the results - seriously sparkling white grout - it changes colour before your eyes - you do not need to scrub or anything, just sponge the spray off after. Amazeballs! I seriously thought I was going to need the bathroom re-grouting before this.

Just had to share, for those who have a similar problem. Smile

It does smell so you need to ventilate well when you spray it on, and it does bleach so be careful (don't get it on your feet like I did stupidly standing in the bath while I sprayed it - realised just in time. Have clean feet now anyway!)

(Disclaimer - I know all about more ventilation needed - treat the cause of the mould etc etc but just not possible in my tiny north facing bathroom)

Really...? Nothing has ever worked on my mouldy grout. I had given up hope. Shall give it a go. Now if you could just tell me the magic product that re-plasters the ceiling and transforms the vile bright turquoise paint job into something tasteful all by itself, my bathroom nightmares will be over .

Yep. That HG stuff transformed my mouldy bath sealant from nasty black to virtually stain free. The worst bit was very pale grey after treatment but hugely improved.

The dettol stuff in the green spray bottle is good too, but scarily strong.

I knew it was going to be HG before I clicke dth elink!

All their products are amazing - not cheap but bloody wonderful stuff.

See here : uk.hg.eu/products/all

The Bath shine (which Lakeland also sell is fantastic - you need such a small drop of it.

PS I don't work for them, either!

does it work on those orange stains that you get as well a the black spots?

What am I doing wrong? I tried that stuff and it didn't work.

Does it really work on silicone sealant? If so, I'll be taking out shares in it. I swear by Dettol for grouting, but that doesn't touch silicone. We've got black mould on the sealant all round our windows - previous owners must've been the worst at ventilation - so if I can get it off I'll be delighted!

I don't have black mould on my grout but I do on the silicone - does it work on that ?

Another who knew it would be hg! It works on silicone but can take a few applications. Their lime scale remover is the best but do not leave it on too long as it will take the chrome off too!

When I clean for people I use hg products for almost everything.

Yes, it works on silicone but as weepingvipers says it can take a while.

You need to make sure it stays on and doesn't just run off. I got most of the bad black stain off the white sealant by putting a folded up piece of kitchen towel against the stain and saturating it with the spray. I also left it on a good while.

It works on the orange stuff too. That's just another kind of fungus I think.

BriantheMole, did you leave it on for a good half hour?

I've found Dettol Mould & Mildew to be really effective at removing mouldy grout from bathroom tiles.

We've got some. The smell is horrendous, even if DH uses a tiny bit in the bathroom with both windows open, I am guaranteed a migraine and DS2 can't breathe from his Asthma. It is good for getting rid of the mould, but it is awful stuff.

The black spots on my bath sealant are sort of 'in' the sealant IFKWIM. Will this stuff work?

Putting neat bleach on a piece of cotton wool and leaving overnight also works a treat on the black mould on silicone. Doesn't work on the orange stains, though, so I am going to check this hg stuff out!

The dettol spray does get rid of the orange colour

I find Grotbuster (which smells suspiciously like neat bleach) works on the orange stuff or I have a steam cleaner thing that blasts it all away but my silicone always looks grim within weeks of replacing it. I often worry about the sort of couples who run B&Bs in "Four in a Bed" coming and inspecting it Blush.

Re working on sealant - I used it on a black mildew stain on sealant and it worked for me....an area two inches by one inch of black completely gone. Can't guarantee it will work for everyone - maybe depends on the severity, but it's bound to reduce it anyway.
