Has anyone converted an oil-burning Aga to electric?

And if so, are you pleased with the results?

Do you save on running costs?

How easy was it? How much did it cost?

Thanks....

Might be easier to sell it and then buy an electric one ?! There's a reclamation yard near us that does this - so they would collect and deliver on the same trip ?! Are you anywhere near Bere Regis in Dorset ?! It's the place behind the shell garage on the a35 / a31 roundabout ! :-)

Well apparently the conversion is quite easy and obviously much cheaper than buying a new electric Aga, which I think is about £6k.

Dorset is a bit far for us ...

that's a shame - they had a great selection last time I popped in ... I assume you'd need to put electric heating elements in the cavity of an oil one ?! wouldn't that reduce the cooking space ?!
I haven't seen this done so I don't really know - be interesting to see if anyone has had it done ! will watch this thread with interest !
is there a wiki how on it - or You tube maybe ?! :-)
