Carpet fitting and furniture

Thinking about getting downstairs recarpeted. Only problem is what I would do with the existing furniture while carpet is being laid. Downstairs consists of hall and lounge/diner with not much room in kitchen to put all the furniture. No garage either.

Can anyone let me know what happens in this situation? Can the fitters work round it or do I have to find some way of storing the furniture while they do it?

We have similar house - living room with dining room attached and separate kitchen. We have solid wood heavy furniture- table n two benches, two large settees, coffee table, large side board and tv unit. Carpet fitters just moved everything around.

When I had my whole house carpeted (many years back) they just moved the furniture round as they moved through the house.

Try to empty one room so they can start in there. Laying carpet with furniture in one half of the room can reduce the tension they can achieve.

it is essential that you agree what is to be done before agreeing a price.
