I have a large space that has been covered with vinyl that I want to replace. There is a large playroom, small office, and large utility room all linked together. I'd be happy with laminate but it got very scratched and scuffed in our old house with moving furniture about. I want the playroom to feel warmer and more cosy but also have hard floor that can be mopped for painting/messy play so am thinking of splitting the space up.

Depends on your budget. Stuff like Karndean can be really warm and feels slightly padded underfoot but costs a lot.

Engineered wood is fairly inexpensive, looks lovely and is easy to clean. Rugs would help it feel warm.

Have you looked at any of the latest flooring like bamboo?

I love my bamboo
its 5 years old
covered in scratches and scuffs that do not show
gets mopped when needed
we are a boots on house
and it still looks FAB

in a couple more years I may get the whole lot buffed back and resealed (because its 11 mm solid) and it cost me £13 / sq m

am thinking laminate with big rugs...had forgotten about bamboo, sounds perfect! I went to a big flooring showroom and saw a stripy carpet which looked amazing but is looped so no ideal.
