Recommended removals company in Surrey

TerrysNo2 · 22/05/2013 11:59

We are (hopefully!) moving from Surrey to Bucks in about 4 weeks, an anyone recommend a good (cheap, honest + reliable Smile) removals company in either of those areas?

Thanks!

Depends on you're definition of cheap really, not sure you'll really cheap, honest and reliable as good companies will charge a fair price. Having said that, we have used Marshall and mackintosh three times in two years (don't ask!) and found them reasonable (got other quotes each time which were comparable or more expensive) and they were brilliant. Turned up on time, worked hard, polite and helpful and looked after our stuff.

A friend recommended Bisley removals to me.

It's sort of half way between the two, but Moving Matters www.moving-matters.co.uk/ were excellent and v competitive when we moved twice in 6 months. Good packing service too.

We're just about to use Luxfords for the third time in 2 yrs - prob not the cheapest but very good and reliable and we get the same guys each time who know remember us and our stuff quite well!

We used F Smith and Son (based in Croydon). They were great and very friendly/efficient (we used their packing service).

We used Clockwork to move us out if Surrey and they were fantastic. They weren't the cheapest quote but nor were they the most expensive.

I have used clockwork two weeks ago' . it was a nightmare! we went for an expensive company hoping to have a good service. Well everything went wrong. I am still dealing with them as a lot of items were damaged. e.g they wrapped my expensive mirrors in papers! honestly! Also they arrive late at my new house.. and they were trying to charge me more money!

We used Porters Removals in Woking for a local move and they were very good.

Highly recommend QuickSilver transport. They are very good value and professional, hard working, really nice guys.

Do not ever use Luxfords - I did recently off the back of mumsnet reviews. They were awful, packing shoddy and lazy, boxes not labelled and no inventory, lots of furniture has been damaged - chipped and scrapped.

The crew they used did not know anything about moving furniture, very in experienced.

It was like Laurel and Hardy moving us - furniture not dismantled, and banged down the stairs. It was an easy move for them and they were not the cheapest.

I have used Pickfords before and Crown removals - probably more expensive - but no headaches and will be using them if we move again.

We've used a firm called Dracott & Fennemore //www.drafen.com a couple of times and I have a friend who used them to move to the US. We both couldn't speak more highly of them! Smile

Had a coffee with a friend yesterday who tells me they have moved from Shepperton towards Heathrow but still cover the entirety of London & south...

I would second Dracott & Fennemore have moved with them a few times. They were too busy to do my last move though so we used Kiwi Movers who were slightly more expensive but even slightly better.

We recently used apex removals surrey, they were excellent. Worth getting a quote online here www.apex-removals.co.uk/branch/surrey/ will give you an idea of moving cost.

Get several quotes and try not to move Friday or Saturday if possible. The quotes can vary a lot between companies, and will vary depending on how "busy" they are that month.
