Made to measure slate hearth?

We're hoping to install a wood-burning stove and would like a slate hearth. Can anyone recommend somewhere which would supply Welsh slate, cut to our dimensions?

I know a good place in south London - where are you?

I'm in Oxfordshire - not averse to a trip to London!

OK, it's Borg and Ranalli in Clapham - 020 7627 3962. They're very good but I suspect you will find somewhere just as good a little closer to home Smile.

Can you ask at your nearest stove / fireplace shop?
We asked at ours and they ordered the hearth for us, even though we didn't get the stove from them or use their installer x

We've got a quote from our local stove shop, Monnie, but it seemed on the high side and I was looking for an alternative supplier to compare prices.

I was given this supplier by our builder. Berwyn slate 01792 851700
I haven't used them yet but he has and really rate them. They will deliver to you.

I've heard good things about Berwyn slate too.

Ah, I googled earlier and found Berwyn Slate too - great to hear a recommendation. Thanks

I got mine at Corfe Stone. I used 2 big square 'tiles', I think they are about 80cm across each and about 1 cm deep. They were £10 each and they charged another £20 to cut them to shape!

I bedded them onto ordinary mortar and they work well. Just give them a wipe now and again and they look lovely.
