Porcelain tiles that look like slate(ish)

I am so sick of trawling through shops and sites looking at sludge coloured tiles (I am 14 years too late for colour apparently). I do so much better with limited choice. Last time I did this was 20 years ago and I just rocked up at one shop and left having chosen all tiles for 2 bathrooms and a kitchen!

I've decided to paint my new shower room so I can achieve colour and only tile the 2 sides of the actual shower.

So what I am after is a tile that will be non slip on the wet floor, will be suitable to use on shower sides, that is dramatically dark, matt but not very bumpy, where the tiles do not all have the same pattern but do have some natural type pattern and ideally have just a hint of colour (green or bluish tint) to dictate a harmonising wall paint colour. Slate itself would be ideal apart from it being a PITA to clean.

So on the off chance somebody has recently seen something that fits the bill, please?

I would just do slate. Why is it a PITA to clean [bites nails and looks at new slate shelves in shower nooks]. B&Q do some fake slate, not sure if it is suitable for showers though.

Thanks for replying wendy. I ordered lovely slate samples and then searched MN for opinions. Apparently the very slight ridging in slate means talc and soap scum etc need actually scrubbing out on hands and knees rather than mopping or it looks permanently grubby. Shelves should not be a problem!

Lovely stuff on there noddy (one of my 2 plumbers is called Noddy Holder :) ) thank you. The real stone is very tempting, the porcelain tiles are ok but not grabbing me. But they have a showroom nearby!

I wonder if anyone can suggest a real stone product that is non slip on floor but is non staining and easy to clean too, having to seal stone worries me. Please.

Ah, we just got limestone in our kitchen. Obviously not dark like slate, but looks grubby in it's natural state, so wouldn't show soap scum, etc. Very non-slip. We got ours from stonevale.co.uk and they were great and reasonably priced. Mandarin stone were lovely as well, but didn't have quite what we were looking for.

Try the Jakarta range (they do them in tile giant). The black ones look pretty good, we have the light grey in our bathroom, the matte ones are a dream to clean as are the polished. I can't speak for the rock finish. They are reasonably priced too!

Sorry if the link doesn't work, I on a phone!

Thank you so much everyone. Looking at these sites is giving more choices :(
I want a stone shower tray now! My plumber won't like that, he wants my low profile tray to have a riser kit, I can see this can accommodate the plumbing stuff better, how can I have a low profile one without creating a wet room? Seriously can an upstairs floor (with boards on joists) have a 4cm height shower tray?
