Because nothing else fits into my small, square living room

Um, I guess because you get more seating space for less room space?

I'd like one, whenever I visit friends who have them they always feel really social - sharing the same comfy space without being squashed up against each other or sitting directly opposite.

I really don't see the point of the chaise corner sofas - they're just massive 3 seaters - but we're looking to replace our current two small sofas with a proper corner sofa which has more proper seating, can be layed down on and takes up less space.

Because they're COMFY! I love mine 'cos I can sit in the corner and stretch my legs out.

We've just ordered one - so we can all sit together at night plus the dog can have the chaise bit too!

So comfy if you're the type to lounge on the sofa, best spot is the corner, dog thinks so too but even she has to move when I want it, it's mine, all mine! I'm usually well wedged in with DD snuggling one side and youngest dog on my lap, middle dog on chaise bit, it's my happy place. Grin

I think corner sofas can work well in some places, but not into the current sofas with chaise things that are popular right now, neither one thing or the other.

We have a small snug as well as a lounge/kitchen/diner and would love to do something like www.cocokelley.com/2012/08/room-of-the-week-8-2-2/

Agree. They are on the whole, gopping.

I had one when I had a small square living room, then I moved to a bigger house, then I moved again to this house which is bigger again but an odd shape (rectangle) tbh the corner sofa was nice but from Land of Leather and I sat on it with a damp dressing gown and left an ass imprint so sent it back.

That white one would look lovely in here, as it is I have a 3 seater and a 2 seater all along one wall, it's like coming to the cinema.

They are basically an admission that your sitting room is all about watching the telly. There is nothing sociable about a corner sofa.

TooYappy the arse imprint has made me cry with laughter. Grin

We have a corner sofa but no TV, not sure what that's an admission of Smile

Watching tv is what we use our sitting room for! 99% of social activity is conducted in the kitchen, around the table, we don't have a tv in there, like many people seem to now, so when we want to watch we go into our tiny square sitting room and sit on our corner sofa. It suits us, how we organise our live and use our home, so I'm not quite sure what gopping means but we like our sofa. Hmm

I have one and its beige!
have small square living room and delivery guys had problems getting that in! wouldn't want anything else though as it is so comfy ... surely thats the main thing!?

our dining room is bigger than living room no tv ... that's the room to chat over food etc ... living room I relax lie back and read and yes watch tv ... I would prefer a tv that disappeared away when not watching it but if I could afford that I would get a house with another reception room!

I love mine, it is so comfy. The corner bit is mine, I can stretch my legs out either way. It's a proper corner one though, and in black fabric, not leather.
My lounge is a lounge diner and the sofa divided the dining area from the lounge area. The long bit faces the woodburner- I love just watching the fire when it is cold outside, it's better than watching the tv most of the time.
We can also fit lots of people on it at parties- 10 in fact- I have the photo on facebook to prove it Grin

Why are they popular? Because they're practical and comfortable. I'd have one over an uncomfortable leather Chesterfield any day.

Didn't know we had sofa snobs on MN.

You have to wonder, if everyone else likes something, why don't you? Grin

Nothing to do with slobbing out on front of the tv, but about space and having at least 6 people in my house. My corner sofa is massive and often has 10 people sitting on it. Having 3 seaters takes up more space, and then you have the isssue of where people sit.

Is it just me, who is picturing Insancerre sitting on the sofa, legs akimbo in an inviting manner?

Maybe this is why people buy them.
Like all things sofa, they were fashionable, then they weren't, now they are again. Which is good news for sofa shops who want us to keep updating!

It's definitely the 'corner' bit that makes it well worth having. Mine is fabric too, and it's a bit like getting a nice hug when you are wedged into the corner, TV remote in easy reach, munchies to hand. Mine doesn't even fit well in my living room, I bought it anticipating moving home so am stuck with it now but it's still my favourite 'thing' that I own.

I have just bought a corner sofa today as we'e been after one for years.
we live in a Victorian terrace and the front room is 12ft square. we currently have a large 3 seater and large 2 seater, which are very very comfy and big enough to lie on, yet are in the way!
We have double doors separating the living and dining rooms and can only open one door, we have an unused space in the corner and we struggle to get in the gas cupboard.
The best bit about our new corner sofa was the price- £200 from the local Emmaus charity shop- they knocked off £50 as they are taking our old leather sofas- delivery was free too!
Its a M&S one.

I have one, that because I cocked up the measurments we have arranged in a C shape, so we get two corners Grin.

Having said that I bloody hate it.

I have no option to rearrange the layout of the room, and I like to do that every once in a while and it looks a mess - It's one of those big squishy ones with loads of cushions. Looks like an unmade bed most of the time.

Practical yes, we can get full family and 4 dogs on, but beautiful no.

I paid a lot for it, so it is staying for now, but I really want to change it for 2 sofas, or even a good old fashioned 3 piece suite!

FierceBad am so glad someone else had the same thought Grin

I have mixed views on corner sofas. I love the one a friend of mine has, it divides the room well and it's very sociable (four of us get together regularly and we all have plenty of space to deal with her dog leaping at us randomly!)

I have two sofas in pretty much the same formation, so I'm not sure why I don't want one for myself. I think in the end we'll get rid of one of the sofas and get two armchairs, but I'm still undecided. obviously.
