Approximate cost of conservatory?

Can anyone give me an approximate idea of costs for a conservatory. We are seriously considering a new build but would want to add a conservatory (we have one on our house at the moment and we know it works for us - and the cats!).

what size, and whereabouts are you?

We have literally just finished one. 4x3, gable roof, coloured upvc rather than white, included building a solid wall on one side and knocking through the house wall......was around £24k. I live in an expensive part of the country though!

Thanks for your reply - its good to start getting ideas of prices.

EasyFromNowOn - our present one is about 13ftx9ft, so would say that size or a little smaller (something more square may fit garden better). We live in Gloucestershire.

Should have said ours is 4x3 metres.......we have no dwarf wall either, went glazed to ground. That price included plumbing into the existing central heating and all electrics, but not decor, flooring or blinds which we've done ourselves at additional cost.

Hi, we are in the middle of a 2.5x2.5m extension onto our dining/kitchen garden room, making the whole area 40m2. It has only cost 10K, including plastering, electrics, vaulted ceiling/velux, and finishing off etc. Might be worth checking on the cost of extensions rather than conservatories if they are that much!

For a 4x3m one we've just been quoted

Conservatory (ie all glass) 17k
Sunroom - 22k
Orangerie- 21k

We bought one through extend a room. They advertise in the sunday papers.
They quoted 16 k for one about 8x11ft white upvc, self cleaning glass, roof that repells heat in summer(sorry can,t remember what they call it!) fineal(sp) on roof.
We did not get back to them when we got the quote(feb 09) so after a few weeks they called us and asked what we thought. DH said it was too dear so they asked what were you thinking of spending he said 7k ok they said!"!!!
I guess they were quiet!!

Ours is 4mx3m, with a dwarf wall, 4 opening windows. Cost £9.5k, West Midlands. That included the electrics but not the flooring.

Thanks for your replies - we are factoring in up to £17,000 for a new conservatory (but hope it will be less).

Not had one built myself but from what I've heard from people who have I'd say about 16 - 22k. Is it a brand new build your moving to? Just asking because some of the ones around here have a clause that your not allowed to make/add alterations to the buildings for around 5 years! I'd presume that includes conservatories.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is a new build. Only about ten of the properties have been moved into and two already have a conseratory so fingers crossed it should be ok. Will check with site office later today though before we go any further.

As it is a new build, is there any way you could ask the developers to put a conservatory on for you?
We also used extend a room, two years ago. 3x3 m cost us 5k.
It is not going to last for ever but was great value for money.
