Opinions on this house in Bridge of Allan

Just wondering..anybody got any views? I have found (window shopping for now) a beautiful house in BoA, but worried about students, HMOs etc as its near Stirling University.

Also, this house has been on the market for a year...even in the current climate, I cant help wondering what could be the catch...flooding? Noise?

I went to the Uni a loooooong time ago. None of the students lived in BoA, FAR too pricey. Went to a pub there about 3 times in 4 years... Drinking and revellery was focused on the campus and in Stirling itself. This may all have changed of course! Maybe someone with more recent local knowledge will be along to help soon.

It IS very close to the river though.

That's really near where my in-laws live. It's a lovely area - not studenty at all. BofA is a lovely little village with quite boutiquey shops along the high street. They do have floods from time to time though.

Thanks Pandam and Sultan....floods must be the issue then! Currently we are living on the doorstep of Glasgow Uni and resent these hair-swishing, frivolous, youthful students...bah! Time for the 'burbs where we might just feel like the young 'uns once again....not sure i could live with ANY flood risk though....

We moved from west end of Glasgow to Dunblane a few years ago and haven't looked back since. Having said that we did get train in yesterday to go to an exhibition, it's really no distance at all. B of A is lovely, that road does sometimes flood but only in a huge puddle on road kind of way, I think. Definitely looks worth checking out. Good luck!

Ooh I've been in that house! My parents were thinking of buying it ages ago when they lived in a different part of BOA. They didn't because the decor was dated - it's been done up since obv.

It's lovely, and I would have thought flooding was a small risk.

No worries with noise / students, BOA is quiet mostly.

Thanks everyone! Videos especially brilliant! spent the afternoon there today, and yep, its opposite the fire stn which has totally put off my husband as hes a horrendously light sleeper :(....between that and the floods, think we'd have to stay on the other side of the main drag...

Anyexcuse, what's Dunblane like? im scared of feeling isolated but we think its a beautiful place, both fancy a house in auchinlay rd although havent been to see it yet...

I love BoA. I often meet a friend there at the deli. Lovely shoe shop. I could happily retire there.

Dunblane is great. Not as vibrant a high street as B of A but only 5mins, 1 train stop or lovely river walk away so who cares. Trains direct to Glw, E, Perth, Dundee, London ffs (sleeper I think). Good schools. We've all been v happy w our move and don't regret it for a minute. DH commutes to G every day and enjoys his journey (between 35 and 50m) sitting reading his book far more than he enjoyed the painstakingly slow stop start bus journey up Great Western Rd. Go for it I say!

I've been looking at property online today but my problem is that I don't really know where I should be looking - can anyone help? This is what I need:

commutable to Stirling University
rural
no neighbours if possible
converted steading ideally
minimum of 4 bedrooms

I'd look at something smaller if I could extend it and I'd rather have something with hideous interiors and get it cheaper, than a place that has been done up to the nines in someone else's taste and I'm paying for it IYSWIM! I like plain, very very plain . . .

We lived next door to a fire station when I was a child. You zone out the siren noise & they often don't put the sirens on straightaway anyway. That does look a beautiful house :)

Tinsel, what's your budget, and can you drive to uni?

I grew up in Dunblane, and it's great. Not isolated at all, good links to nearly everywhere. No flood risk, as it is built on a steep valley.

BofA is also lovely, and you'll never see the students. again, it's built on a slope, so flooding is only a risk in some areas, it all depends where the house is.

£400k ish Agent - and assuming we'll have to do stuff to it. Driving to uni would be fine - would rather have to drive than be near people!

Have you seen Kaimes Farm? Can't link as I have the RightMove app. It looks right up your street, if slightly over budget . But it's OIRO, so they might take less than asking price.

Theres def property out there in that budget! Ive seen plenty that we decided were too rural, check rightmove and S1homes.

upper bofa seems the place to be, really beautiful houses up there. Think I still prefer Dunblane though.

Does anybody know much about logie, cambusbarron and the other outlying villages?
