Thinking of moving to Surrey

Hello Im in need of some advice on Surrey.
I live in a lovely little town in Devon, my partner is at uni and we have a two year old together.
He finishes uni this spring and because of the nature of the job he has trained to do we feel we need to move towards London.
I am from southall in London I move to devon when I was eight.
We feel the best place for us would be Surrey as I would be only 30-40min s from my family in southall and surrounding areas.
Where is a good place to go in Surrey we are looking to rent and stay in the area for approx 5 years at the most.
Rural villages with just a little shop and pub would not be a problem we are used to having to drive to get anywhere to even do the food shop.
I would also like to be near good preschools and primary schools my daughter was going to go to a montisorri preschool with and outstanding ofsted report and would like to find a similar setting.
I'm also a childminder so need to be in an area with plenty of parents needing childcare.
Our budget for rent would be a 2-3 bed propert with a garden for around £1250 less would be ideal.
I know this is a big ask but would appreciate some advice so we can start our search and I'm assuming the good preschools have a long waiting list so we need to start sorting this out thanks in advance for you help x

I don't know about rent but my DCs went to "Guildford Montessori Nursery School" they have a sister school in Bisley IIRC. Outstanding Ofsted, but more importantly I personally thought it was fantastic.

Just a starting point for you. Smile

Surrey is lovely - which is why it is crowded and expensive. Remember that driving there will be a lot slower than you are used to. Have you done that 30 minutes to Southall recently?

factor in travel costs if you are planning to commute into London.

My son attended the Christopher Robin Montessori nursery in Merrow in Guildford and it was excellent - outstanding Ofsted report - there is also a sister nursery in Burpham. Excellent range of schools in the area - 35 mins on the train to Waterloo, great shops and amenities and I'm sure plenty of child minding opportunities. Rent isn't cheap but I would think you could find something in your budget in Burpham or Merrow.

I just wanted to add that the drive from Surrey (Guildford area) to Southall takes much longer than 40 mins. Driving on the M25 is a like a Russian roulette. On a good day you can probably make it in around an 1 hour. I have gotten stuck in traffic on the M25 and the delay can anything between 1.5hrs to 9hrs!!

But moving to Surrey? I'd definitely recommend it!
