you mean the duct? If it is fastened to the soffit with an adaptor, and the soffit has a hole, or a grille or other kind of vent, it's correct.

If no means has been provided for the moisture to pass through the soffit, it is not correct and the moisture may remain in the roof space and cause damp, mould, and rot of the roof timbers.

Mine goes to the soffit and then vents out through a grille.......but could I butt in and ask what I can do as the vent then drips all day even once the fan is switched off........

wrap the duct in loft insulation to prevent the steam condensing on the cold duct.

Ahh thank you PigletJohn, I shall send my DH up into the loft armed with some insulation! Appreciate the advice.
