... For a 1970's house.

For years I have lived in period rented cottages and dreamed about owning my own one day.

However, where we live they are far too expensive so it looks like we might be buying a 1970's house instead. So, no chimney breasts, no particular features, parquet flooring in all downstairs rooms except for the kitchen and large square rooms (the last 2 definitely aren't complaints!)

Can anyone please recommend any websites that can give me an idea on decorating / furnishing? I have a board on Pinterest and it's all Scandinavian or rustic and I don't think it will fit!

Any advice gratefully received ...

Parquet sounds lovely Smile

I kwym, we grew up in a horrid 60s house with no character. I hated it. We still filled it with nice stuff, but really it was so hard to visualise how to make it nice. My parents seem to love that style of house and now live in another 60s place. So boring!

I am sure you'll make the most of it. We also rent a Victorian place and tbh it's a gift to decorate. I would find 70s a challenge!

Thanks. I think I am struggling as it needs quite a bit of work doing to it and I need to buy all the fixtures and fittings straight off ... Internal doors, curtains, carpets, light fixtures.

Nice to be able to do but I am clueless and don't want to waste money or the opportunity!
