Replacing radiators

The plumber doing the pipe work for our extension has just told me my radiators are knackered, that they are full of black sludge and will end up killing my boiler unless they are replaced. I have 8 radiators throughout the house. Does anyone have any idea what a realistic price would be for him to supply and replace them all and presumably flush out the system? (north west prices, not london) Is this something we could actually just do ourselves cheaper? If so, how?

depends on the sizes of radiators you want but we just spent £60 and £115 each on 7 radiators that we ordered ourselves from //www.plumbtraders.co.uk we got K2 radiators made by stelrad, which are double panel double covector, so heat really effeciently. The thermostat dials are another £13 each.

We had a plumber fit them and a combi boiler for us, including getting a flue on the roof, 3 days work in total, he charged us £900 for that but it was a big job with pipe moving, being on the roof ect, he had to employ help for one of the days
In total we spent £2700 on a whole new system for a 3 bed flat, that's a good price.

I would have thought it would only take half a day to fit your radiators, if you are not moving any or changing any sizes. It would most likely be cheaper if you bought the bits yourself and just got him to fit it, it was for us on the total job by about £700.
