Just been given an approx quote of £1000 to have it at the front of the house. Roofer said its almost doubled in the last 6 months.

We paid £3K last year to have it at the front and side of our house for a few months - normal 3 bed semi type property.

This is across the front. Approx 20feet on the pavement. 3 storeys high.

Loads of workmen have said recently about prices going up. Wondering why as its not equipment that particularly changes.

I know of a company locally who had a load of scaffolding poles stolen (presumably for scrap metal) so maybe that's why? As they'll have to buy new poles etc

That sounds about right. We just built a house and two garages and it's not cheap. Although if you find someone to do the work (whatever it is) who has their own scaffolding you'll save a fortune. That's what I did.

My husband's a painter & decorator & says it sounds quite expensive, is that 3 storeys of house or 3 storeys of scaffolding? Are you in London? I'd try getting a couple of independent quotes.

3 storey house. It was an independent quote that the roofer was shocked at. He said he thought about £500 but he keeps hearing of scaffolding prices doubling

Definitely get a couple more quotes, round here in Sussex it would be about half that! Was this quote from the roofer's regular scaffolder?
