Hi at the minute we have what was once cream with a hand stenciled red/rust /gold rose(took me ages 15 years ago when I only had 5 children)
It has to go ...sob and now I have 4 year old triplets so no time or energy!I cant decide to go more neutral or stay with the creams as the red tiles change all the colours once on.Something a bit more modern but light. We have dark furniture and due to chimney and road dust it will darken fairly quickly. Its not a modern house (picture rails and deep skirting highlighted with grubby fingerprints and irish lace...cobwebs to everyone else).I have to pick stair carpet as well as the present carpet is green with apple white walls (dont ask....hubby is not having a say this time around :) )
So many natural colours out there. How do you all get that look?

Have you tried any online tools like color smart from Behr? If you have a smart phone you can snap a pic of the color you have to work with then it converts it and gives suggestions and, you can try it out in different rooms!
I'm renovating two bedrooms right now and have played on it for hours!
Good luck!

If you had a photo of the hall it would help.

But without the photo:

Which way does your hall face? ie which direction does the light come from?

Are the red tiles old?

Is the house Victorian, Edwardian or what?

ps 5 children PLUS triplets, really?

You need to load the photos on to your Mumsnet profile or send a link to a web address where the photos can be seen.

I think you need to make your profile public? No link comes up when I hover over it.

Try some of the tools on the dulux site www.dulux.co.uk/colours/index.jsp . If you find a red like your tiles then you can click to see colour schemes and see what it comes up with? I'm guessing gold and beige?
