Where else can I look for property to rent?

As title really. I have a new job starting in January and whilst commuting distance is just about do-able for short period I really want to move before I start (plus teacher so difficult to then move unless in half terms etc which is horrendous).

No children - me, DH and pets (cat, guinea pig, hamster).

We want to move to Wymondham, preferably as close to centre as possible as DH doesn't drive.

Looked on rightmove, seen just about all the houses on there, either they are too big/small or don't take pets.

Been looking in local paper, put advert on gumtree. Where else can we look? Not much is coming up - is it time of year?

Any thoughts would be really helpful. I know we sound picky but we moved into our current house when a perfect rental had fallen through and have not had a great experience. Wary of moving into one we know isn't right just because of timescale.

Just because they say "no pets" doesn't always mean no pets at all. Quite often if you say you have pets they will be allowed but with a slight increase in either rent and/or deposit. I can't offer any other help, sorry. Good luck with your search.

Have you contacted the school and asked if they have any contacts/suggestions? Put an ad yourself in the local paper 'professional couple looking to rent in Wymondham ...... blah blah blah'; are you a member of any groups/societies that might also have a group in Wymondham?

(I agree that 'no pets' doesn't always mean no pets - personally we didn't want to rent anywhere that allowed pets so only viewed 'no pet' houses but on more than one occasion when we turned up to view there was a cat in the house and the tenant would say 'the LL has allowed it' - much to our annoyance as it was a wasted journey for us Grin.)

look on other sites too
zoopla ets they don't always overlap
and call all the local agents let them know you are looking

would you consider the centre of another town such as Hethersett or Attleborough, both are nice places

Wow! Such quick replies! Sadly we found 2 houses that were perfect, only to then be told that LL won't have pets. We said would pay pet deposit, get carpets professionally cleaned, limit rooms cat went into (which in one case was only then wooden floors - she is 17 and just sleeps all day) etc, no go.

Looked at Hethersett and Attleborough but DH wants to join clubs and stuff in Wymondham and I don't really want to be driving him everywhere! We could contact the clubs he wants to join and see if they have any ideas - thanktoy Ragwort.

We have been bothering agents on an almost daily basis to see if they have anything coming up - think they will tell us just to get rid of us!

Stuff seems to go so fast too - one went up Sat night (an internet agent who advertise on rm for private LLs), emailed within an hour, got email from agent Mon with contact details. Rang straight off, she had let it! I can't get any quicker!

Will let you know if I get lucky! But for ridiculous deposits needed we would look at buying but sadly no go at the moment. We want a long term let we can stay in til we buy. Thankyou so much for help so far Thanks
