The only one I can get to work is Ikea but it doesn't have the appliances at all that we have plus Ikea have funny sizes!

I've tried B&Q - ended up in a continuous loop of click here to open kitchen planner only for it to launch into the general webpage Confused

Tried magnet as well - that wouldn't work either Sad

Have googled but can't find anything else free!

What I did was create a house in Sims with a kitchen that matched mine for size and shape, then put units in that were almost kinda like the ones I was looking at. It was shite, and I don't recommend you waste your time doing it.

are you sure?

DP says if you don't have full screen view, you don't get all the options IYSWIM. Try F11?

I'm pretty confident they do the options you're after?

I modelled paint colours for dd's room on Sims! It's never quite right, but it's about the closest I could get.

You'd think there'd be a free few room designers available on the web, wouldn't you?

Hey youthful Techie people! That's what we need! Over here! Yoooooooohoooooooo....

Yes absolutely sure

There is no hob (only cooker units)

No under counter fridge or freezer

No sinks

DP away tonight but will ask him - I KNOW there are sink units (plural) as two days ago we were chopping and changing sink units on our plan...

Magnet seem to do an online kitchen planner - which is free I think. Not sure if it is any good though.

I used a product called Plan3D to plan bathroom, kitchen and bedroom layouts... It is NOT FREE though costs approx $16.00 a month - but it is quite comprehensive.. The only downside is that some of the items are USA-based but it does allow you to "build" your own items and take a 3-D walkthough of your rooms - very similar to the stuff that they show on Grand Designs..

Ikea? how is it going wrong for you, it has loads of appliances and customisable units/extra bits?

To get sinks you add a sink unit (or normal base unit) and on the righthand side, choose the sink and tap, or hob.

Undercounter built in fridges are in Base Cabinets for Appliances. Freestanding ones are in Your Own Appliances, put in your dimensions.

Any more questions? IKP is rivalling MN as my biggest timewaster at the moment Blush

Okay mine doesn't bring up sinks anywhere when I have the sink unit at the bottom....

Put the sink unit in your room first then select it and go to Options on the RH menu??

how about trying floorplanner.com? it's free and v. easy to use imho. draw your room size and add items off the "kitchen" tab on the library. you can customise the sizes of each and every item you place on the design. also gives you a 3D perspective option which rotates so you can look at it from all sides.

if it keeps popping back to a corner or something, hold the unit where you want it for a few seconds until the yellow outline goes green, then it will stay put.

If it has red outline it means it doesn't fit eg ceiling is too low, or gap too small, maybe try a different unit or look in 3d/zoom in to see what the problem is.

it's just great that you can get that authentic Ikea experience of frustration without even needing to go there Confused. have you any Wine at this point?

Um is there a problem with using graph paper and drawing to scale?

Stick your A3 graph paper on a drawing board, draw out the room dimensions, then stick layout paper over the top so you can follow the grid underneath and make your own designs.

You can do different 'views' as well.
Hours of endless fun!

Um is there a problem with using graph paper and drawing to scale?

That's how I would do a plan for fitting, not how I would draw something to assess the visual impact. As for first and third angle projections, not everyone can do these well enough to be able to gain a good idea of what the finished result will be.

I drew one on paper and that is fine. I want one on the pc to show dh and to show you lot as you will think of things I haven't thought of.

I am getting somewhere slowly.

Off to bed to recover for the night!

Only thing I will say is are you wedded to under counter fridge? My parents got one and we all hate it! Dad ended up going out an buying a tall fridge freezer as well. The under counter freezer is ok as it is drawers but the fridge is a pain - esp the veg drawer. In theirs it is under a shelf which always ends up with stuff on and then you have to move it all to get your veg out.

have to agree with Buda... am currently renting as we're renovating a house, and in the rental there's an undercounter larder fridge - drives me bonkers!! Can't wait to get to new house and new proper fridge (which has arrived and I sometimes pat it longingly...)
