Total cost for a new front door?

This is fantasy land, but I like to think ahead to a glorious future. We have a nasty PVC front door and in the long term I would like to have something wooden with some glazing to let light into the hallway. We would obviously have to replace the frame as well as the door in order to achieve this.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what it cost them to do the whole job (including labour)?

I have been researching this too as we are about to move to a property with horrible UPCV front door!

I think the answer is very variable depending on who you get to do it. The cost of the door need not be huge but the "door furniture" can double the cost again, including locks.

I have budgeted about £1000 for a custom-made front door, including all locks etc.

However it could be more or less depending on your needs/wants. Also worth knowing that if the new door is more than 50% glazed then building regs apply.

Thanks for the answers everyone £1k seems like a good figure to save towards. Thanks also for the tip on building regs, theyoungvister (always love your name) I didn't know about that. I think it would just be a smallish area of glazing as I would worry about security with lots.

Current door is a bit yellow, has fiddly details which fill with grime, is the wrong style for the house and incorporates a trip hazard which makes us grumpy every time we step through it. This is not auspicious in an entry way. I can see how a person might become a bit fixated nymphadora!
