king size beds?

schroeder · 29/07/2010 20:55

My DH keeps me awake with twitching(wtf?) snoring and so on.
Will a King size bed really make a difference?Or should I look at a zip together mattress?
DH not keen on the idea of seperate beds although it sounds good to me

Kingsize beds are great, plenty of room for everyone.

I always find I sleep better when I am in Italy where king-size beds seem to be standard. They are expensive to buy (not just bed and mattress but also all the new bedding etc) - perhaps book into a hotel with a bigger bed for a couple of nights to see if it helps you? I've ordered one for when we move back to our own home in a few weeks' time - can't wait.

I have a Superking and it's amazing. If we want to cuddle up we can and if we don't there's loads of room for us to both spread out.

Superking is definitely the answer.

Think the zip route on a king might be good. Maybe two duvets as well? I hate not feeling free to turn over as much as I like. Hence we have our own bedrooms, which I have to say I love - and love DH so much more knowing I'm going to sleep uninterrupted.

I have this problem with DH too - and we already have a Kingsize bed! Not convinced Kingsize would solve the issue, IME. Was considering superking (but there is the space issue and need all new bedding) or zip together mattresses (hadn't thought of 2 duvets...).
Let me know how you get on!

our king size bed is in storage (we are renting and the bed in the flat is only a double).
I really miss it. it does make a difference. we do have separate duvets though. I need a thick one and dh only a light one, so everyone is happy.
IKEA has good deals on king size beds and bedding...

Thanks for replies.
We already have 2 duvets, but this causes problems as he gets hot and pushes his onto me.
I'm seriously considering a sofa bed, so I can escape to comfort and peace downstairs.

We have a king sized bed and have just moved house and the bedroom can take a superking so we are getting one.

We are going down the zip and link route having lived in a hotel for 3 weeks between houses and the bed there was a 6ft zip and link.

It was fantastic

Superking Size definitely. We had super king for last 5 years and it was really nice when DD was small as well and she could come in our bed for cuddles or when she was sick. DH is a terrible sleeper but there were plenty of space for all 3 of us.

But our current room is smaller and we bought a king size bed. I just cant get used to it. Yes it is big if you are used to a double but after using Super King for so long I cant get used to it and we just found out I am expecting second baby.

Only downside for Super King bed is bedding is very expensive and you dont get it in every store.

What about a pocket-sprung kingsize mattress? If you're kept awake by twitching and turning over, it might really help. We're getting one in the interests of DH not being woken up every time I turn over in bed.

We've got a superking and a pocket-sprung mattress. Both brilliant. Doesn't stop DH snoring though

Superking is the way to go. We have hardly any room around our bed but worth it for the space.

Also have a superking lovely bed but DH stills snores like a hog-

I find I really miss our king when staying in a double. It does make a significant difference, but a superking would be even better. Having said that, my main problems are sharing a bed with DP and a hefty 3 year old, and I can't bear to be touching anyone while I sleep. So a twitchy bloke might drive me to more drastic measures!

We have a king and it makes such a difference. We now can't sleep at all on a normal double.

Kingsize is fab. Wouldn't be able to sleep with DH on a double now.
