Everywhere I look seems to only cater for 6 or 8 maximum and the tables are rectangular (which I don't want). Where online can I peruse round or square tables to seat 8+ ?

I've looked on the website but they seem to be tiny. I'll have a look in store.

There are more instore I think. I looked on the website too. I think that most are rectangular (or round-to-oval with an extension leaf) though.

a bit too fancy, frizbe. Would like light oak, modern, pref chunky, clean lines.

Dare I suggest finding a carpenter and having one made?

NomDePlume Sat 07-Jan-06 15:58:34

That might be our best option souply. My BIL had one made, a huge square kitchen table to seat 12 (!), it's a bit country pine for my tastes but very well made.

If you just want plain and simple it shouldn't be too expensive. Although oak isn't cheap...

NomDePlume Sat 07-Jan-06 16:01:59

Buying one off the peg will be expensive anyway, at least we'd get the exact perfect size if we had it made for us.

Another option is maybe a conference table from an office suppliers?

NomDePlume Sat 07-Jan-06 16:06:30

It'd be v hardwearing too !

I fell in love with a gorgeous dining table from dfs when I was looking, but it was rectagular.

Why do you want square?

Janh Sat 07-Jan-06 17:18:46

These are 3' wide by 5/6/7' long and you can add a leaf. A square/round table big enough for 8-10 would have to be about 6' across - why do you now want rectangular?

We have a round table 46" across with 2 18" leaves so it ends up nearly 7' long, sits 10 easily and 12 cosily - can just squeeze 6 round it closed (although our chairs are quite broad, with narrower ones 7 would be possible). Also it's a kind of pedestal so the chairs fit OK.

Sorry, NOT want, lol
