Find out TODAY if DS has got into the same school as his sisters!
Lots of applicants were turned away last year, due to a bumper intake
We're just in catchment

Today?

We don't find out until Tuesday.

Good luck!

Ooh I'm waiting to find out too. My eldest two are at the local catholic school and my youngest is at the nursery there. Each one of them got turned down before I received a letter relenting and letting them go anyway. One of the mums has two kids in different schools. Fingers crossed.

I got an email yesterday saying we won't find out until "shortly after Tuesday 16th April". Ds has been attending our closest school's nursery. But it is a catholic school and ds isn't christened any religion so he goes in the last category of catchment. Any christened children will be before him and they only take 30.

Not until the 17th here (London).

16th April here-my dgs is hoping to get into the same school as his brother. He is in the nursery class which is no guarantee. Older dgs is in Y1. They live out of catchment and just across the county line. In previous years it would have been a shoo-in but an excellent Ofsted has boosted applications this year.

Ours is next Friday. Given we live 30 metres from our preferred school I would be shocked if DS doesn't get in.

22nd here! We live opposite school though so not really worried, but you never really know until you have the blasted lettersmile

Today here in Notts. I received an e mail at quarter past midnight. We got our second choice which I am really pleased about. I found it hard to choose between our first and second choice anyway.

I'm just relieved, I've been stressing all week!

Good luck everyone else!

MardyBra Fri 12-Apr-13 09:02:10

Yes. It's not AIBU.

OnwardBound Fri 12-Apr-13 09:07:45

Don't find out till the 17th I think [London].

I am desperately hoping DS gets into our first choice school.

Have a good chance of doing so going on last year's intake and our proximity to school.

But you don't know until you receive the official notification do you...

Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear!

thebody Fri 12-Apr-13 09:10:18

Hope everyone gets what they want.

Oh!! Thank you for reminding me!
Just checked and DS got into our preferred choice!

Not until the end of the month here in south lanarkshire. Our catchment school is 30mins walk where as our placement request is less than 10. DS1 is already there so waiting to hear if ds2 gets a place

All the best, everyone.

Svrider Fri 12-Apr-13 09:43:47

We find out by email on the 16th. I am quite anxious now so glad to see thread! Will be happy if DS gets one of our three choices but it's uncertain. No 1 is great but a very long shot. No 2 also very good, very close to us but small so fewer places. No 3 good but like the others oversubscribed. The next nearest school is Not Good At All School, and was undersubscribed last year when quite a few kids got allocated to it when they hadn't named it in their three choices. Really hoping that doesn't happen for us, but we're on a run of bad luck atm so this will either break it or ramp it up even more sad

Good luck to everyone. Any news yet OP?

innermuddle Fri 12-Apr-13 09:54:44

We find out on Monday. Fingers crossed!

Snazzynewyear Fri 12-Apr-13 12:03:05

Great news svrider - now off to the thread in Primary Ed

DeafLeopard Fri 12-Apr-13 12:05:33

What Mardy said.

DeafLeopard Fri 12-Apr-13 12:07:42

There is a thread on this already in the right place - ie not in AIBU

We've just moved and our local school has really bad rep and ofsted report so haven't named it as a choice so hope thats not allocated or I'll cry.

Our first choice is an outstanding school thats very hard to get into so I don't think we'll get that, I will be happy with second choice as its near nursery and most of his friends will go there and its a good school that is linked to our high school of choice, 3rd place is quite a distance away so not ideal but is close to family who I rely on for help when I work.

We find out on the 16th.

mumandboys123 Fri 12-Apr-13 12:52:11

Monday for us. Should get in under the sibling rule but these things are not over till they're over!

RebeccaMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 12-Apr-13 16:57:58

Hi all,

We have moved this over to primary education now.

We find out on the 19th <crosses everything>

Good luck all

My DS didnt get into the school i wanted sad and to make things worse the school hes been offered a place at has an updated ofsted inspection which really isnt good.. really stressing now!

sportinguista Sat 13-Apr-13 07:17:43

We found out yesterday, we got our fourth choice which is our catchment school. It has a good ofsted but as far as I can tell this is generally for pastoral care and the academic side of things isn't as good. However at least he has a school and it isn't one in special measures. I really feel for the people who already know that whatever they put on the form they might not get anything at all, or so horrible that it's heartbreaking to send their DCs.

I could tell it was going to be a bumper application year locally because all the clothes in that size were always sold out! Plus we have high migration around here.

So going on wait list and trying to put positive spin on it all!

ThoseWomenWereInTheNip Mon 15-Apr-13 08:31:37

Found out just now that dd2 got into the school of our choice. It was touch and go whether she'd get in due to us not being catholics (having two siblings already there and living a 3 minute walk away doesn't count). I'm so pleased. grin

tiggytape Mon 15-Apr-13 08:36:20

To anyone not happy with their school allocation or needing general advice on appeals, waiting lists and the admission process:

Please feel free to start a new thread in the Primary Education section. There are experts who will be able to give advice on the options available to you. Sometimes requests for help might get lost as people post their school outcomes and a new thread keeps all the info in one place.

DD2 has got a place at our first choice (extremely oversubscribed) school round the corner. So pleased!
Wasn't to worried this time around though as DD1 is already there. I was a nervous wreck last year. Good luck to those still waiting to hear!

Ds got a place in our 1st choice school grin it's really hard to get into so I'm so pleased/ relieved!

DS got into our first choice. So pleased smile
