Muswell Hill primaries

We may be moving to Muswell Hill/Fortis Green in the near future, probably in rented accommodation to begin with. Just wondering what the differences are between the various primary schools in that area - all seem consistently good in terms of results/OFSTED but I was hoping someone tell me whether they differ much in intake/ethos/atmosphere?

I have friends whose children go to Rhodes Avenue - Outstanding OFSTED which means small catchment area and high house prices! But renting in the area might be easier. The parents and children all love the school.

That's good, they all seem to be well-regarded by parents.

Rhodes Avenue is not Fortis Green side of Mus tho, you have to live literally on top of it. It's down towards Ally Pally.

Tetherdown is near Fortis Green and also has a tiny catchment. It has outstanding ofsteds, is academic and competetitive (I mean the parents !!) from my understanding (sorry I mean no offence)..

My dc go to Coldfall which is lovely community, inclusive and great academically.

So there are loads of good schools - Our Lady of Mus is cracking if you're Catholic.

I think Coldfall is the most likely choice for us as it seems a bit more mixed in terms of intake than Tetherdown (even if we could get a place). DD1 is currently at a very diverse (and very happy) inner London school, don't want too severe a culture shock

We have been thinking to move to a house v near to coldfall school. have heard very good things about the head and the ofsted is excellent. A teacher friend who lives locally said it was excellent. I popped in there the other day for a nose around and it seemed very nice. Mixed crowd.

I have heard fabulous things about Coldfall too, but careful with the catchment area, it has shrunk I think and is not huge. If you live in Fortis Green you probably wouldn't get in.

Have heard good things about Tetherdown from patents with kids there, but diverse it is not, most of the houses in the catchment are £1m plus, and have heard the competitiveness point too.

We are in east finchley now but hoping to move up to alexandra park - marginally cheaper and aiming to be near Rhodes ave school, which we liked when we visited.

Think I'll go on a whistlestop tour and see which we like - will report back if there's anything new to say!
