Full days or half days at nursery from age three and a half?

I'm not sure whether to send DS2 to nursery for half days or full days.

What did you do? What would you recommend?

Fees are £385 per half session per week (per term) vs £485 per whole session per week (per term).

I would do mainly half days but one full day if you can to get him prepared for school (maybe do the full day when he is 4 though). Do you need full days so you can work or are you at home anyway? I think unless it is necessary I would not go for 5 full days at this age.

I think it's more "usual" to do half sessions unless you need the extra time for childcare.

Why are you paying for your sessions btw? I presume they are longer than the "standard" 2.5/3 hour ones?

I am at home but thinking of gently easing myself back into the workplace. My other 2 DCs did half days (only 2 or 3 per week) but at that stage I had a baby at home.

What about just 2 or 3 full days nikki?

redskyatnight - you pay for the sessions, and yes they are slightly longer, but then you claim back the early years allowance/grant. How much is that these days anyway?
