Crayon words

DS' school have just issued him with some 'crayon words'- it seems to be the first 7 of the top 100 words

He has to learn them during the week and if he can do them he can colour somehtng in at school and get some more

I found it interesting that DS knows some quite tough words, (like children and look and looked) but not as and at- although of couse after 3 days of them he has memorised them

Does anyone else do crayon words and have any advice on hadling it, and also is there any online rescource available for this concept, so we can start to get ready to support him through it?

And before anyone says it, we ARE reading loads with him, scheme & non scheme etc etc etc and he loves to read and be read to at the moment

When dd started bringing home the high frequency words I would print off two copies of the words and we would play snap with them. Instead of saying the word snap you have to say the word on the cards instead to win the pair.

Dd is still in reception has learnt the first 100 high frequency words by doing this.

Oooh I like that snap idea

Is that the official name, high frequency? I have been googling crayon and getting nowhere

Where did you print from or did you just type them out?
(am itching to use the laminator somewhere in this...)
