Any ideas of how to make something that looks like frog spawn for the water tray?

I think most stuff wouldn't stand up very well to being immersed or having little hands squelching it.

You could try gelatine and puy lentils?

How about some real frog spawn? Or isn't that allowed (cruelty to tadpoles rule 404 or something?)

I am pretty sure you are not allowed to move frog spawn on pain of almost death.

Sainsbury's online has tapioca, so I would imagine any large store would (filed with pudding rice and semolina)

Dot some cooking oil in the water. It will form into circles. Then put a dark coloured round shape in the middle of the circles. (From those tubs of metallic shapes that you use for collage). We did this a few weeks ago

the fake frog spawn is going into the water tray to make a pond like water tray. We will look at the real tadpoles too.
