Hi,

Is anyone else having problems with surrey admissions? I did not get my first choice school. Don't want to say to much at moment as still waiting for proof to back up my claim. Just that I have seen a couple of messages here about Surrey admissions and it makes me wonder if things have gone wrong for many of us.

There are issues with secondary school admissions certainly. None of the children here got places at the nearest secondary school (3 miles away) and have been offered places at one 10 miles away instead. This has never happened before.

Thanks Cosette my admission is for Junior school 7+. Did hear that secondary schools are in chaos this year. Makes you wonder what is going on.

I think admissions are crazy all over the UK! Surrey is so bad in our area as they have built a load of houses for families and haven't actually thought about where these families will put their children!!

In our area it also doesn't help that there is one school that has had a shocking reputation which no-one wants to go to and therefore there is a mad scrable to live near to the good schools!

I am having problems with my Surrey admissions. My son was given a place in a really good school and the school have made an administration error and have revoked his place. The school they have given him is in the opposite direction from where my daughter goes to school. I have done some school runs - as if my son was at this school in September. The total miles I have do each day is 12 miles. Also he can not be dropped off at this school until 8.40am. This means that I have to travel 4.5 miles through Staines in rush hour traffic in 20 minutes. I have not done this yet and this means that my daughter will be late every day for the next year. That is really going to help her education! Apparently this year's intake is really high and Surrey schools are really suffering. The schools in Runnymede are all full and we are now being put into Staines schools even though we have siblings in Runnymede schools.

Gwen - As I've said on your other thread, Surrey don't have a leg to stand on in your case. Please don't give up. Have you made a formal complaint yet?

I have not given up. We are busy writing letters to the School Board of Governors to tell them about what we feel about this and the fact that clause 1.50 of the withdrawing of school places says that they can only do this if I have told lies on our form. We have been through Surrey County Council and they are positive it is the school's fault. We are sending the letters out today and filling in the appeal letter as well. Who know what next weeks holds for us!

That's good. Hope it all works out for you - it really should. And please let us know how you get on.
