I got ds school report today

in which he had received level 1a for his attainement in Litereacy and Maths. This is the first time I have seen these types of grades and it is all new to me, would someone be kind enough to explain what this all means. He is in year one. Parents evening is next week so will speak to the teacher next week to understand further. Thanks

They are National Curriculum levels.

2b is the "average" for end of Y2 IIRR.

It starts with 1c, ib, 1a then 2c, 2b, 2a etc.

At the beginning of year 1 a Level 1a is a good standard to be at, we would expect children "usually" to rise by 3 sub levels over a two year period, so by the end of year 2 your son should be on track for a 2a which is above average.

Not strictly true primary mum.Level 2B is the expectation of what children should achieve but not the average
