Year 4 and still writing numbers backwards

when should I start to be really concerned? have organised a meeting with her teacher tonight. The only numbers she doesn't write backwards are 1 and 8. lot's of other issues going on which concern me aswell such as lack of concentration, very untidy writing and no improvement in reading since beginning of year 3. I have flagged these concerns up several times in the past and I am getting very frustarted with the school.

Meeting with the teacher was a sensible thing to do. I'd see what they have to say and then go from there. Good luck with it and great you got in to see the teacher so fast (we seem to have to wait for weeks for a free slot)!

henni have you considered dyspraxia?
She sounds similar to ds2 who is going through the assessment procedure atm. He also has dyscalculia which is very common with dyspraxia and is maths processing issues. He is also yr 4 and also writes numbers backwards. He has no long term memory for numbers, one day you think he can count, then 2 weeks later he seems to have forgotten it all.
Here's a link to dyspraxia foundation

Thanks ingles, hadn't thought about dyspraxia. Meeting with her teacher went as expected i.e all children learn at different rates etc. Her teacher is going to see how she is in a couple of weeks but at least seemed aware of our concerns.
