Does anyone know the approximate term/half term dates for 2009/10?

Ds starts in reception in September and I haven't had a chance to get the term dates yet. Does anyone know what they are for the first couple of terms by any chance so I can try and work out childcare/holidays? Thanks.

Depends on where you are - most LEAs have online term calendars so you can check.

Here in Hampshire we go back on September 3rd, then October half term is the last week in October. We break up on December 18th and go back on January 4th 2010.

But bear in mind that new joiners eg Reception children often have staggered entry and can start days or even weeks after the rest of the school have started.

Thanks Sidge - I am in Hertfordshire - that sounds about right - I think most of them are fairly similar. I am really more interested in how much time I need to cover for him being off than the actual dates themselves.

Where do you live? We have dates for the Highlands.

They mentioned he wouldn't go full time for at least a month or 6 weeks!

Our LEA puts term dates on its website. But beware, as not all LEAs have the same holidays.

www.wokingham.gov.uk/children-youth-education/schools-colleges/term-dates/school-term-dates-2009-201 0/These are the dates in our borough, but they can vary quite a bit between authorities, and then there are inset days which can vary from school to school.

Does your school have a website? They may be on there.
