Its my 4 year old first week at primary school and he's been abit upset. I know thats to be expected but i feel worse than i would do because its not the school i wanted for him. I live and work in different towns and as a single parent i needed him to go to school in the town i work in as opposed to live in so i failed in getting him into the school of my choice since they get allocated based on where u live. I then took a school which had spaces available. Its not the best school and not the eone i wanted and the combination of those 2 factors has made me feel worse when i see him upset in the mornings.

I have him on the waiting list for one of the schools i originally chose for him.

Has anyone else felt like this and does it get better. I just can't stop worrying and dwelling.

Hi SilverSparkle

Whatever school you choose, he would still probably be upset. It is a big deal starting school, and something that most children go through. It will get better, and hopefully he will soon settle in and feel happy there.

My ds took a long time to settle in - and that was at the school of my choice. Try not to beat yourself up about it. Obviously if there are specific issues cropping up, then they neeed to be dealt with, but settling in is difficult whereever and whoever they are. Good luck
