DH IS on iterview panel for interviewing head teacher @ church primary school

he is asking about SECONDARY TRANSFER anfd SPECIAL NEEDS

what would your killer question be?

If so, how would you implement screening, and how would you support the children that need further input?

What special arrangements would you like to put in place to help vulnerable children transfer to secondary school(Don't know what is already in place, but we have extended induction sessions with the secondary school, not just for the SN pupils but for those who are particularly shy or with other problems that might affect their ability to settle in)

The interview is lasting all day

she is doing 2 assemblies this morning as well as other activities

Then this afternoon they {the goveronors} come together with their questions to discuss them and then the formal interview is about 2.30

This is the 3rd time he has done this interviewing panel day

Each govenor has certain topics to ask about and DH is mainly SN and Senior transfer

So he alreaady has his original questions and I just wonmdered if there was a KILLER QUESTION that he hadn't thought about

the school communication thing is deffo on agenda cos it drives parents mad

They have improved that but old head was hopeless at listening to parents what they are actually saying

I personally am glad she is retiring although DS has left the school several years ago

So.... RTKangaMummy.... if your dh wanted to pass on any handy hints, twould be muchly gratefully received.

And if anyone wants to apply to be head of dd2 and ds's primary school... teeny church school in lovely small Yorkshire village... I can be catted with details (don't think they've had that many applicants yet. In fact, the interview may consist of: "hello. Are you an axe murderer? no? good, welcome aboard")

The vicar will cover the religious part of interview

the school is very closely connected to the parish church although there are some children from other religions there as well who afaik join in everything

the jewish children in DS class did anyway

I would want to know if the head intends to be visible and approachable when the kids come out of school.

The old head of our primary did this, knew all the kids, chatted to parents, picked up litter.

I really liked this and it made me feel he cared about the school and got off his chair to be by the school gate.
