No - not all the class gave one in DD's but I happen to know and like the teacher.

They don't get a present if I don't like them, just a frosty festive glare.

I think you should have made her a lovely junk model out of cereal packets and loo roll and egg cartons, all painted nicely and covered with tinsel. She would have loved that.

one friend is a teacher and you go round at christmas or the summer and she hands out chocolates saying, please take them.

why is it the norm for teacher to get presents?

these things get out of hand imo

Will buy her a present at the end of the school year, but ds is not even inclined to write her/classmates christmas cards, and I'm not going to press him to do it.

No! I haven't bought one for ds's teacher either! She has been useless at helping my ds with the bullying that has been going on in the class, so she can go stuff herself for all I care!

I got a box of choccys for my dds nursery teacher though, she is lovely and I like her!!!!!!

I started a thread a bit like this yesterday and ended up running out to the shops and buying them both a bottle of wine.

Your thread seems to be going better. No don't worry about it!

me neither, not even a card for the 4 school teachers DC have or their 2 TAs or the 11 staff at 2 different preschools. Oh the shame....

Mind you, DS made a very nice Get Well card for his teacher off sick.

You lot obviously don't realise how they cast the plum parts for the school productions then

Oh god no YANBU. Give em something small at end of year.

But sparklingly excellent and clever genius son did not get a certificate of achievement, kindness or owt this term so that's not influencing my decision AT ALL. Mind you he's a bloke so probably ought to keep him sweet so he doesn't piss off somewhere else to a headship next term...

And I suggested to DS1 who looked all aggrieved when I snorted when he suggested a pressie, 'Perhaps Mr X would appreciate a real present of a goat for someone who really needs it in a very poor country MUCH more than he needs yet another box of crap chocolates...'

Funnily enough DS1 turned back to his playstation and ignored me... Plus ca change...

My son made his teacher a present. He is five years old and decided to make her a puppet out a lollipop stick and a some card (from a cereal packet)

Gawd knows what the lady thought of my son's creation.
