Physically dealing with primary school children

This is a query rather than a concern but I'd be interested to know if this is standard practice. Today I was in a primary school and a child of around 5-6 yrs old was poking his tongue out at the window of a lesson. The teacher saw, came out and without a word took the child by the arm, quite firmly, and pulled them into their classroom. It was a definite pull rather than simply escorting the child but I don't think he was hurt at all.

I should say that I was in secondary for a while and it would never be acceptable to lay hands on a child in that manner except perhaps if they were about to do something violent/dangerous.

I wasn't horrified or shocked or about to march in and complain but it struck me as perhaps not best practice? Or is it absolutely fine? I am genuinely unsure.

I was going to name change but I can't work out how so if DS's teacher is reading this, don't worry, it wasn't you I saw!

I would assume that the teacher knew the child and how best to deal with their behaviour. Some children may have not listened to a verbal command, some may have run away and endangered themselves or others. It would not bother me at all in the context you described.
