Ill for first day at school

Hi

My oldest starts reception tomorrow. However, she's been a bit under the weather for the last couple of days - a cough, low grade fever (38 - 38.8C) and now has a rash around her mouth. She is feeling ok, just a bit more tired / cuddly than normal

I'm planning on still sending her to school tomorrow but this rash has me doubting the decision. She's never had a rash with a virus before, although I've heard it's pretty common. Should I send her anyway? Will the other parents hate me if all their kids pick this up?

Thanks x

Sounds viral to me... It really depends on how bad the rash is. You can't really send her if she has a really obvious rash and a temperature, it's not fair to the rest of the class xx

No you can't send an ill child to school!

I wouldn't send her. She will not be feeling at her best and that will give her a very bad first impression of school. It's not fair on anyone. I do completely understand how anxious you will feel about this though...my ds missed his first two or three days of Reception (a couple of years ago) because he was ill and I was really worried about all the other children already being settled and knowing where their things go etc but, in reality, it was fine. It will be better to give her the weekend to get better and send her on Monday.
