Do we have any idea when these will be? I wish to book a holiday but it is flying on the Thursday prior to the school breaking up for half term. I'm totally at peace with going away and DS missing two days of school but not if it falls on SATs days. Are the dates available? If not when do they usually come out?

They should be finished as schools had to do them in May, with a few schools having to do them in April. Teachers will still be assessing and probably won't want kids to be out until end of June though. Teachers need 3 bits of evidence for every single criteria on the performance indicators, so if your child has not met all of them yet the teacher will be desperately trying to get them there. The tests form only part of the assessments.

Having said that they might change everything next year.

I've taught y2 for a long time. I would choose to avoid May and you should be ok!

The DfE have published KS2 and Y1 dates for the next 2 years but not KS1 ... Nick Gibb has suggested they may be externally marked in future which may mean fixed dates

I'm not sure why you're worried. SATs aren't like GCSEs or A-Levels. They don't actually matter to your child at all. The school already know how well she's doing in everything without the government swooping in and making them all jump through hoops.

Just go.

And yes, I am a teacher.

StepAway, I know. But equally I'd rather he didn't miss them if I can avoid it.
