Is any ones DC taking exams for both Bute House and Lady Eleanor? Am I right in that they are both taking place on the 5th January 2016???

I never heard of Bute house before, but since Bute house is in central London and LEH is in Hampton, I would have thought not many girls would want to try for both schools. Most people would not want a long commute for a young child. It is far easier to put an eleven year old on the train on their own than a seven year old.

Schools usually have a reserve exam date (for clashes, illnesses). You need to ring both schools on Monday and hope one will move you.

our intention is to move to the location of the school of where our DC obtains a place.

Bute House is West London - plenty of people living in SW London do exams for LEH/Hampton and West London schools.

If your DD is sitting both exams next week, surely you know the dates of the exams? If there is a clash, why are you only trying to sort this out now?

Because we were sent letter from18th December. Was too late to contact schools

So you do know that the exams are on the same date? You won't be the only person with a clash. If it was not possible to contact the school after receiving the letter, then all you can do is phone first thing on Monday. I'd actually try now as there may well be an answering machine so you can leave a message.

OP isn't the first parent, and certainly won't be the last, who has realised only at the 11th hour that they're in a mess.

I'm a bit surprised that the school admin staff were not working at all over the Christmas holidays (it's a peak time for billing etc and they're often working a good week longer than the classroom term dates).

It is however really unlikely that anyone will be in at weekends, so first thing Monday is the best bet.

Thank you all. I will call on Monday and see if one of them will help.

My daughter is doing both schools, the Leh one is the 5th Jan. Bute house gave an option on the application for 5th and 6th Jan. I assume all schools know each other's dates hence the reason for the option. Alot of the 7+ assements are all on the 5th Jan.

how did it go at Bute today? Friend's daughter came out happy and said it wasn't too difficult, not sure if that means anything!

Yes my daughter said she thought it wasn't hard but not sure if that is good thing😳

Does anyone know when the inform parents if their daughter has passed?

sanam2010 · 06/01/2016 21:33

in about 2 weeks time I think, or "in the next 2-3 weeks", whatever that means...

For those whose daughters took the Bute exam on Tuesday, did they manage to complete the maths portion of the exam? Were there word problems? How many questions in total?

A friend's daughter took the exam and she said that she didn't complete it because they were pulling girls out during the exam to do activities. That sounded odd because it would affect timing differently for each girl.

My daughter said they did pull them out but the time for the tests was not running. Not sure if that is correct.
I believe there were word problems but my daughter didn't say what they were about or wouldn't !!!
Sorry not helpful but it is too late now anyway and it is simply a two week nail biting wait.

Sanam2010 interviews for Bute are all this week, offers out early February. Do you have a daughter at Bute?

Report
sanam2010 · 12/01/2016 21:54

Banners75, I don't, friend sat the 7+ there this year so was just wondering where things stand. Early Feb sounds like a very long wait!

Yes it is! They said when you confirm interview they will request school reports, I guess they allow a few weeks for that as well as sorting out the offers.
