Snaresbrook Prep vs St Aubyns in Woodford

Hello,

Could anyone please share any feedback on Snaresbrook Prep in South Woodford vs St Aubyns in Woodford Green? Are they academically comparable? The main advantage of St Aubyns seems to be the facilities, but I was wondering if anyone has children attending either of the schools and could provide an "insider's view"? Many thanks in advance!

Hi, sorry if this information is no longer relevant. I did read recently that Snaresbrook prep ranked 19th in the country in terms of academic results. Out of the two if I had a choice, I would opt for Snaresbrook, but I think a lot of the decision depends on where you want your child to study after prep school. If you are considering a school such as City of London or a top tier grammar school, entrance is extremely competitive.... Hope this helps a bit

St Aubyns is mediocre..they don't seem to believe in accelerating capable kids and rather laid back in their approach. I don't know Snaresbrook prep though.

I've heard that Snaresbrook prep is quite a small cosey type of school and results are very high ranking. But in truth, to gain a place at a top tier school in London such as Habadasher Aske, Highgate or City of London ALOT of prep will be needed out of school outs, perhaps with the help of a private tutor, as these schools are so popular and regarded as Among the best in the country. So, in my view, in depends on how much you prioritise academic over facilities but yes hyagreeva I've heard also the same about St Aubyns. Ideally for my children I would pick snaresbrook and then city of London school .

Forest is very good and has excellent facilities. So perhaps worth considering that over st Aubyns or Snaresbrook prep. Bancroft goes from 7+ but I hear from many that it doesn't have the cultural diversity.

My only concern is if you see the Times newspapers top 100 rankings, forest and bancrofts are nowhere to be seen, whereas snaresbrook is among the top 20. It's quite a big trade off for more facilities! Just my view!

Hi mums, wondering if anyone has a view now in snaresbrook/Avon house/st aubyns now ?
We are also likely to get into church fields (will find out soon) but as we are both working, we think my DS will benefit from that extra attention private schools claim they can give to children.
For secondary, ideally we want grammar or scholarship at a private school. I do understand from a lot of parents, this will require a lot of private tutoring. Now a lot can change in the next 6yrs, but this is where my current thoughts are.

Any views welcome!
Many thanks.
