So we are currently number 8, which doesn't sound amazing but i guess you don't know what movement etc will be. Question is, now others can apply to be on waiting list, is ot first come first served if they hadn't applied before or may we find ourselves pushed back further based on people living nearer etc? Sorry if been asked before!!

Unfortunately waiting list is held in order of how you meet the criteria, not how long you've been on the list, so yes you could go down if someone nearer is added.

Yessome if some one didn't get their preference but lived closer to yours they can join the list and will be ahead of you for example. Or they can get a sibling in and go to the top of the list

I have another question about waiting lists: we didn't get our 1st choice. Our 1st choice school allocated 16 places (they only had to take 11 but they wanted to accommodate all the village children that applied), I have heard that one of the places offered won't be taken up as the child is going to private school instead. Do the school have to offer that place to a child on the waiting list or do they save it for people who appeal or do they not have to reallocate it at all as they originally offered more places than they officially had to? Hope that makes sense, would really appreciate any feedback on the issue.
