No, never. Despite teaching for 11 years in the same school I've never once felt bored or not wanted to go into work. Even teaching the same topic ( which happens rarely as something always changes! ) is never the same as each class is completely different.

Not at all. I love my job, and no one year is the same as the next, there's always different students, different challenges, new technologies.

And if you ever start to get complacent, the Ed department will be happy to completely change the curriculum on you every few years.

Nope, it's never exactly the same. Plus, it's good practice to change year groups regularly!

Teaching young children is never boring and doesn't need to be repetitive unless you are happy to recycle lessons year after year. It's always possible to teach the same concepts in a different way.

I always get a sinking feeling at the thought if starting again with a new class in September. Just because it takes a while before you train them up in the new year group! They always seem so young compared the the class you just had. That said, once you've started in September it is enjoyable getting to know them Smile

Sometimes I find phonics a but repetitive. But everything else different each time you teach if.

Never! Every class is so different in Primary - it's not just about the topics we teach . I'm always a bit apprehensive at the start of the year but by this point I always love my class and all their unique personalities. Their are many difficult things about teaching but it's never boring and the children (rightly!) are the best thing about it.

Never.
Even if I haven't moved classes it's always different.
The children respond differently to topics and every class has its own dynamic and teaching requirements.

This is so cheering to read, as a parent. I couldn't be a teacher. I am already dreading DC2 getting the fecking Rainforest topic that DC1 had for what felt like a lifetime. The Amazon doesn't change in length and passes through all the same bloody countries. [cries] thank you teachers Wine

Oops, 'there are many difficult things' not 'their are many...' My class love it when I make mistakes - I can hear them calling out now!

I taught Florence Nightingale, about 10 times and managed to make it different every time?
Teachers are always learning from other experts and finding new ways to make learning interesting for their pupils.
After 37 years of teaching I still am learning!

Never get bored. Never do any clock watching to go home. Every single day is so different.

With all the curriculum changes, and fads and fashions a never ending supply of Education Secretaries who knows nothing about education have insisted upon year in, year out ? Chance would be a fine thing.

No. Don't get time to be bored and in a good school, teachers will change year groups every few years to keep things fresh.

So glad to see that other teachers agree as my first thought was 'repetitive?! No never!'

The one task I hate and find mind numbing is writing reports. Even planning and marking can be quite enjoyable.

There are times when I think 'here we go again' on a particular topic. However, a year is quite a long time and others have said, there are different ways to do things and each class is a bit different.
If it is boring, it maybe that new approaches need to be tried.....sometimes time prevents this though!

What is more likely to be a bit boring, is if in Secondary you teach lots of classes the same thing.....ie 4 lots of 2nd Form doing RS. I don't have this, but know people who do. It can be a bit boring, although the preparation load is reduced.....but then each lesson is done several times and over and done with....you never do the exact same thing over and over again for long stretches of time.

I am not a teacher, but I would absolutely love teaching a child to read.

I'm fortunate that I've never repeated a "topic" (despite staying many years in the same age group) so there's always something new. I have taught in all three key stages but believe SMT should look at strengths when allocating year groups not just move teachers because someone thinks it's a good idea. In no other profession would it be regarded a good idea to move specialists to other departments as a matter of routine.
